What do you get when you perform a comedy about four dead guys "slammed by a bunch of parochial virgins" who come back to life for one night to do the show they would've done if they could've when they were, which now they're not, so they didn't and now they can? Just one of the funniest shows in PCS history. Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time on this or any other planet.....Forever Plaid!
![]() The Plaids start the show (nervously) with the classic "Three Coins in the Fountain." Smudge needs a Rolaids to settle his stomach; Frankie's asthma is acting up; Jinx' nose is about to start bleeding any minute; and Sparky is.....well, Sparky. |
![]() With the first song under their belts and the shakes subsiding (somewhat), the Plaids blister through a segue of "Gotta Be This or That/Undecided." Segue: "That's French music lingo for doing another song without any yakking in between songs." (says Frankie.) |
![]() Time to get romantic and reflective now with "Moments to Remember." The boys all meet their ideal prom dates.....except poor Jinx, who can't find a dance partner. |
![]() With Sparky leading the way, the Plaids wow the audience with their first-ever public performance of "Crazy 'Bout Ya Baby." In order to feel more comfortable, they premiere it the way they rehearsed it - in the stockroom of Smudge's family's plumbing supply company, using plumbers helpers as microphones. (The crowd goes wild.) |
![]() "No Not Much" - finally, the boys sing a real love song (Jinx loves this one.) |
![]() While Jinx' nosebleed congeals (take it easy on those high A flats, big guy!), Frankie tries to quiet his asthma, and Sparky writes the words to "Perfidia" on his hand, Smudge forges ahead with audience patter about how the Plaids found their material and their hopes to make an album someday. |
![]() The Plaids doo-wop through "Cry" - but Jinx still has the jitters. |
![]() Jinx breaks out of his shell and emotes at the end of "Cry." |
![]() The Plaids work hard to sing about love - and love to sing about men who work hard. Smudge leads the group in "Sixteen Tons." |
![]() In another segue, Frankie fronts the hit song "Chain Gang." |
![]() The Plaids sing "Catch a Falling Star" during their tribute to Perry Como and the Golden Cardigan. |
![]() The Plaids go calypso - with a medley of island-inspired hits in the number "Caribbean Plaid." |
![]() "Mercury" recreates a singing commercial lead-in to "the entire Ed Sullivan show in 3 minutes and 11 seconds" during Sparky's rendition of "Lady of Spain" which follows. |
![]() The Plaids salute their adopted heritage in "Scotland the Brave." |
![]() In their penultimate number, the Plaids perform the beautiful harmonies of "Shangri-La" before they have to return to the astral plane. |
![]() Just before leaving, the boys display their dream - a string of albums culminating in "The Plaids: Solid Gold Hits." |
THE PLAIDS are:
Sparky - Pete Peluso
Smudge - Ed Wishart
